Joshua Barnett

writer/producer/director

Joshua Barnett is a writer, producer and director, who studied film at The School of Visual Arts in NYC.

His first short film, “Cat,” won the Grand Jury Prize at the Long Island Film Festival. He subsequently won best director for “Zombie Goldfish,” at the Twister Alley Film Festival. Including “Family Karma,” “Two Evils” and “The Spider and the Bee,” his films have screened at the Nashville Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, Kids First, VisionFest, Dead by Dawn, among others.

In 2021, Elden Henson (Marvel’s “Daredevil”) was cast in the auto-biographical short film, “How to Tie a Noose,” based on Mr. Barnett’s struggles with depression. Since its release the film has connected with many around the world who also suffer with depression and have found hope in its message.

In addition to his film work, Joshua has produced and directed music videos, commercials and a variety of other content, from reality TV to sizzle reels.

As a writer his work has been optioned by Mike Nelson (“Hot Tub Time Machine”), 8th Day Productions (“At Middleton”), Brian Gersh and Stephen Susco (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” & “The Grudge”).
